Powers —

Skills:

- Master Pilot
- Master Combatant
- Advanced Scientific Knowledge

Superpowers:

-Superhuman Physiology- Carols superhuman physiology is due to her being half Kree. It provides her with super human strength, agility, durability, stamina etc and she can further augment them via energy manipulation.

-Flight - Carol can fly. Although her top speed is unknown, she can fly interplanetary which suggests that she can at least surpass ultrasonic limits.

-Healing Factor - Carol has a healing factor that she can also consciously boost through energy manipulation.

-Energy Absorption & Manipulation- Carol has the ability to absorb some kinds of energy - light, heat, radiation and gravity (notably not nuclear), to enhance her other powers or power attacks. Mostly this is done in the form of photon blasts. In canon she has recently shown her ability to dip into binary form again, with the correct supply of energy and create an energy duplicate from it but I suggest we remove this ability (creating a duplicate) because it is messy for the purposes of the game.

-Chewie -Carol has an alien species called Flerken that looks like a large orange tabby whom she calls Chewie. Chewie has a pocket dimension inside her, and can eat large things with her tentacles. (Carol has a lot of powers, so I propose not using Chewie as anything other then Hijinks, to do things like eat Carols favorite hat so she can't find it)

Limitations:

-Magic - Carol's largest limitation comes in the form of magic users. While she has the ability to absorb power and manipulate it, it does not equate to magical powers at all leaving her vulnerable to any magic based attacks.

-Power drain / Power Overuse - Some of the biggest risks Carol have been in have been in her own power overuse. Because she can sustain her life on her energy she's manipulating it can also make her weak / drain her own life force. She also has the ability to completely overdo it and turn into a star that we have to worry about going supernova and creating a black hole as discussed by Forge and Cyclops of the X-men. Thus she has to be careful and "holding back" continues to be a theme of Carol's life.

-Personal relationships & others - Carol is easiest compromised by her personal relationships where she makes bad decisions trying to protect the people she loves. She frequently makes poor decisions when the people around her are challenged. (Civil War II is a mix of wanting to protect people from dying preemptively but also largely in part due to the loss of Rhodey who was her romantic partner at the time.) The grief from the death of her sister caused her to almost go super-nova.

Personality —

Carol Danvers is a woman who doesn't like to be told no. She ran away from home to join the military after her alcoholic father told her she couldn’t go to college for science because that wasn’t something women did. Instead she ended up being a highly successful pilot, rose to the rank of Colonel and later even went on to join Nasa.

Her own unique identity is something that Carol has struggled with however, going by many names over the years, Ms. Marvel, Binary, War Bird among them before she settled on the label of Captain Marvel which has help solidify that. Since becoming Captain Marvel she has sense learned that her powers didn’t come from an alien with an alien machine, but rather that she is one herself. Or rather, half one as her mother was a Kree solider in hiding on earth. She has learned of her sister, a test tube baby the Kree made to be one of the most powerful warriors in the universe and is working on a relationship with her and teaching her about human life as well.

Along with her sister now, her friends are her chosen family, even when she has fallings out with them. She is goofy and fun with them as Carol as opposed to her more serious Captain Marvel military demeanor. She hosts game nights and goes to escape rooms and makes an effort to have a very grounded friendship even with her superhero friends. We see her ability to bounce back and make sure to make amends throughout her time, but most specifically you can see it with her continued close friendship with Tony Stark, and his position as her sponsor with regards to her alcoholism, even after Civil War II which lead directly to his death.

Carol is fiercely protective of her people, even when it comes at a cost to herself or others. While all superheroes put themselves in harms way to protect people, Carol frequently has to restrain her powers to do so because they can be deadly to herself. She’s seen a future where the sun burnt out and the world was freezing, leaving the few surviving superheroes living underground. Future Carol saves them by going full supernova to literally become their new sun. When she returns from the future Carol goes on to break up with her boyfriend because she met a young woman who was his daughter, who she thought was amazing, and she didn’t want to stop that person from being born by selfishly being in her relationship. (She walks that one back eventually, but she will continue to sacrifice herself for the good of others).

Carol’s greatest fears outside of losing her friends are tied to her bodily autonomy an memories. She has had issues with memory loss multiple times in the past, brought on by both outside forces and her own body. Even when the memories are replaced she struggles to reconnect the emotions. She’s lost her bodily autonomy in several ways over the years but two big ones are by being experimented on by the brood and by Rogue absorbing both her powers and her essence.

Because of this need for bodily autonomy, Carol also has issues of trust which we have seen her working to over come. She’s recently had to let Rogue absorb her and fight together to beat someone. Later, when dealing with the Brood who previously experimented on her, she lost control of her emotions and powers and was about to go supernova and had to trust Rogue to take on some of her power to share it so it could come down safely.

The need to be correct is something that Carol is struggling to break from. Digging in her heels has gotten people she loved killed. (Civil War II anyone?) Historically, after failures, she’s taken to the skies (if not right into space) as a way to chill out for a while, but she’s making an effort not to do that anymore. To rely on her friends and be in the moment has been a big change and something she’s working on. She wants to make the world a better place, viewing her role now as something more of a firefight then a cop and she’s here for the good fight.

Gameplay —
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming: Carol's familiar with alternate dimensions, universes, and timelines as they are a frequent occurrence to her so she won't be too pressed on trying to figure out exactly why she's here, and more be concerned on how she can help. She will be looking for allies along with that, be it friends she knows from home or entirely new ones she's comfortable making them after her long term excursions in space.

Looking at the current situation going on from the game, I think it would be interesting to see Carol's reaction to the idea of preemptively trying to stop people from getting hurt as that was the big Civil War II theme. I like to think that she's grown past it, and learned her lesson. And I imagine once she gets a grasp of the situation she will want to try to help people resisting it.

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: She's generally pretty physical affectionate with a lot of people in her circle.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: She's always down for a fight, if needed.
SHIPPING: Carol honestly comes off as somewhat of a chaotic bisexual even though she's only had relationships with men in the comics. Open to MCU / Cross Cannon / Etc so long as the characters are 25+
SHIPPING ♥: Rhodey, Jess, Jessica Jones, Natasha, Tony ... ? Probably more.
MIND READING: Open to it with the right characters but let's talk about it first.
CONTENT WARNINGS: Carol is an alcoholic and in recovery. She has dad issues thanks to an alcoholic father. Otherwise her past includes general shitty women in comics issues like abuse, rape, mind control etc but are unlikely to come up in casual threads.

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING:Sure I'm happy to do this. I am a medium paced tagger when at the computer, but can be away from it for days at a time where it might not happen, but I try to let people know. That said, no pressure and I am always happy for a tag no matter the speed.
THREADHOPPING:Ask first.
FOURTHWALLING:Only if it's a thing your character does e.g. Deadpool.
SMUT: Sure, if you can get the character in it I'm down. Also good with fade to black.
